New theory test questions - Driving test changes January 2012

As we know the majority of leaner drivers who sit the theory test do not actually know the answers to the questions set instead they memorise them. The biggest mistake that learner drivers make is trying to learn about all the theory test questions with no practical driving skills, this only makes it harder as half the questions will not make sense. The best way to learn is to combine both of them, so take the driving lessons and learn all about the theory test at the same time.

As independent driving was introduced in October publishing test routes for the driving centres around the country was also stopped. Since then the DSA has decided to also stop publishing theory test questions and answers. This decision has been made so that all future drivers learn about theory driving and not memorising the questions and answers instead, this will hopefully lead to many more successful passes and safer driving for newly qualified drivers.

New candidates will still be able to use previous material but DSA will be creating new questions that no-one else will have access to. Candidates will have to rely on common sense and good driving skills shown by a competent driving instructor. This change will come into effect 1st January 2012 so drivers will need to have a better understanding of the safety of driving.

This decision has caused tension with many forums on the internet regarding more changes for candidates who want to learn to drive. But the backlash is really from the younger generation of drivers who are yet to pass or take up driving lessons. Hopefully with all these changes being brought in to change the way new drivers will learn it will help make roads safer and bring out a new generation of more careful drivers with a lower risk of accidents.
